An arbiter of style, Kathleen White has spent years honing her skills in both Europe and the US. From coastal cool to urban luxe, Subliminal Lab specializes in mixing modern design with vintage finds to create a look that is unique and elevated.
Starting her design career as a set decorator in the LA film industry White’s work eventually took her to Italy where she remained for 12 years. From designing Rome’s famous Via Della Croce’s Christmas decorations to working with Academy Award winning production designer Gianni Quaranta (ROOM WITH A VIEW), White discovered her affinity for extensive remodeling - gutting and renovating properties in Rome’s historical Parioli district as well as Southern Tuscany all whilst becoming a serious Chianti connoisseur.
In 2002 she returned to Los Angeles setting up design boutique Eccola: a hub for vintage Italian designer pieces featuring one of a kind work from masters including Gio Ponti, Osvaldo Borsani and Fontana Arte. This led to many design consultations and work with private clients advising them on their interiors and remodels.
As the demand for custom design projects grew White decided to close Eccola and established Subliminal Lab in 2018. She has since worked from coast to coast and currently has projects in Century City, Santa Monica, Del Mar, Manhattan Beach and Malibu. Her design work has been featured in The New York Times, The LA Times, C Magazine, Angeleno, Dealers Choice, and Apartment Therapy, amongst others. White visualizes spaces that don’t yet exist and homes that are at once luxurious yet livable.
